Right now, Levi's in Texas finishing his EMT certification. He spent the last few months doing the bookwork and tests online and now he's doing the hands-on classtime and rounds. He was there for class all last week and then came home for the weekend, only to return on Tuesday for rounds in the ER. He has some crazy stories, including one about a stabbing victim, so you may want to ask him about them. Today he's doing a 24-hour shift at the Denton Fire Department and then he'll be finished. I know he can't wait! After he comes home, all he'll have to do to be "officially" certified is take the National Registry test (which he assures me will be "easy").
It has been quite a process to figure out how one goes about becoming a firefighter. Levi's been working really hard and is currently in the testing process for the Oklahoma City fire department. He's taken the written test and now we're waiting until September when we'll hear when he gets to take the physical test. Unfortunately, then we have to wait until November for him to be tested. It's quite a lengthy process. Anyway, if all goes well with the rest of the tests, he should be hired in January.
I'm working at Professional Oklahoma Educators, which is a teachers' association that is an alternative to the union (OEA). We provide twice the liability coverage of the union for half the cost. In case you didn't notice by my shameless plug in the previous sentence, I do PR for the organization. I absolutely love my job!
That's a quick overview of where we are in life right now. Hopefully that will get you up to speed before the rest of my updates start coming. Here's a picture of what we're working toward:
