Sneak Peek: Guest Room/Office Makeover

I should be decorating this room for Baby Girl but, instead, I've been inspired to decorate our new guest room/office combo. Since we moved in 2.5 years ago, the office (what will now be the nursery) and the guest room have been somewhat neglected on the decorating front. This is mostly because I knew that someday the two rooms would be combined, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money collecting extra things that would have to be purged once we ran out of room.

As it turns out, the new combo room worked out great. We already had almost everything we needed to decorate it and the furniture all fit perfectly.

This is a special calendar that my grandparents had the year I was born. My granddaddy listed the names of all his grandchildren at the bottom then circled my birthday and added my name to the end of the list.

This room still has some work to be done. I want to add bamboo shades like this:

And create a crate bookshelf like this:

For this wall at the end of the bed (as you can see, I've already started slowly buying the crates):

I may need to make the bookshelf a little taller than the inspiration picture to accommodate all of Levi's (and my) books:

As for the nursery, I have gotten a few things - most excitingly her crib bumper:

With her crib scheduled to be delivered next week, we've been trying to pick paint colors for the walls and a couple of other pieces. I'm not sure if we (Levi) will get the room painted before the crib actually arrives, but here is the color palette we've agreed upon:

More decorating updates to come soon!

2nd Trimester Highs

In honor of being halfway through my pregnancy today (20 weeks!), I thought I'd give a re-cap of this trimester so far. To those who have talked to me in person, it's no secret that pregnancy has been harder than I imagined and I'm not enjoying it. I know it will be so worth it in the end and I know that I will "forget" and go through it all again someday, but for now I'm just ready to jump to the end.

High Points
  • Energy - I can do things again! During the first trimester when I was so, so sick and exhausted it was a chore to even think about going through the CVS drive-through to pick up my nausea medication, and I didn't even consider trying to make a trip to the grocery store! Thankfully, I have a normal person's energy again (for the most part).
  • No Nausea - Well, less anyway. I feel fine most of the time, but I've still gotten sick a handful of times during this trimester. It always hits me when I least expect it, usually after having gone too long without eating (which can be as little as 3 hours!).
  • Appetite - I can now tolerate and even sometimes want more than just a few nibbles of food other than saltines.
  • It's a Girl! - Finding out the gender of Baby Wilkins was definitely a high point of this trimester. Most of all, we're happy she's healthy.
Here's to the next 20 weeks going by as quickly as the first 20. Who knows, maybe (with a little luck) she'll even come early!
